Professional Activities and Interests
Deborah F. Cook is Professor of Business Information Technology. She received the Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University, and M.S. in Agricultural Engineering and B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Cook was previously a Research Scientist in the Industrial Engineering Department at Texas A&M University and the Director of the Forest Products Manufacturing Research Program, an interdisciplinary program aimed at developing techniques for manufacturing process improvement in forest products industries. She has been a senior industrial engineer at Sperry Corporation and an industrial engineer at Hercules, Inc. Her research interests are in the areas of quality control for continuous manufacturing processes, neural network techniques for manufacturing process modeling and control, and ISO 9000. She has published in The International Journal of Production Research, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, and Cybernetics and Systems. She currently serves as an Associate Editor for Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence. She is a Certified Quality Engineer and a member of the American Production and Inventory Control Society, American Society for Quality Control, and Decision Sciences Institute.
