Professional Activities and Interests
Deborah F. Cook is Professor of Business Information Technology. She received the Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University, and M.S. in Agricultural Engineering and B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Tech. Dr. Cook was previously a Research Scientist in the Industrial Engineering Department at Texas A&M University and the Director of the Forest Products Manufacturing Research Program, an interdisciplinary program aimed at developing techniques for manufacturing process improvement in forest products industries. She has been a senior industrial engineer at Sperry Corporation and an industrial engineer at Hercules, Inc. Her research and teaching interests focus on business process modeling, supply chain management, and quality control. Dr. Cook's research has been published in various journals including IIE Transactions, Decision Sciences, European Journal of Operational Research, and the International Journal of Production Research. She has obtained research funding from the National Science Foundation, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Advanced Technology Program, and the USDA Forest Service.
