Meet Dr. Jones

For general information about BIT courses or options, please see the BIT homepage.

BEFORE scheduling an appointment for advising or dropping in during walk-in hours, please complete the following checklist:

  1. Print a current and complete copy of DARS report (all requirements) and bring to meeting. Follow instructions at http://www.registrar.vt.edu/graduation/dars.php. Then you may view/print your DARS. If you try to run an audit and you get the message "No application for degree on file" then take the following steps:
    • First, specify which BIT option you want to study (DSS or OM). You can go to 1007 Pamplin to do this or email Tracy McCoy (tracym@vt.edu) that information (include student number). If you have already done this, skip this step.
    • Then, apply for graduation. Go to Hokie Spa and fill out an application for graduation online. This just records the date you think you will graduate. If you get a message that says "no major concentration specified" you will need to wait a day or two until your BIT option has been processed. At this point your DARS should be available and should have your course information categorized correctly.
  2. Review the flowchart for your year of graduation and BIT option. These flowcharts show suggested sequences of courses and indicate pre-requisites. These are available in 1007 Pamplin or may be downloaded from: http://www.bit.vt.edu/academics/check_flow.html

Summer 2008 Office Hours:

Dr. Kitchin: I will not be in the office during the summer and won't hold advising appointments but I am happy to answer questions by email. Please generate your DARS on Hokie Spa before sending an email about coursework and I can answer your questions much more quickly. You can go to 1007 Pamplin if you have an urgent question or need a signature.

Dr. Jones: Advising office hours will begin in mid-August, 2008. Check back for times.
